Darren Penn has two great loves in his life. First and foremost is his family. A very close second is trying and winning cases. “I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie,” he says.

As a partner at Harris Penn Lowry DelCampo, LLP, Darren has one goal in mind: to make a difference in the lives of his clients. Over the years, he has attained hundreds of favorable verdicts, influenced critical changes in safety regulations and legislation as well as manufacturing and big business practices in this country, which have positively impacted the lives of countless consumers and business owners.

The tight connection and true friendship that exists between Darren and his partners is a driving force behind HPLD’s success. For Darren, there’s nothing better, or more effective, than sitting around discussing trial strategies with his best friends. Always taking a creative and passionate approach to his cases, Darren gives each one his very best and that effort is reflected in his results.

After receiving both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia, Darren began his career in 1994 with the litigation department at State Farm Insurance Companies. Often acting as lead counsel, Darren gained experience with cases involving automobile wrecks, premises liability, coverage disputes, as well as fire, theft, and homeowner’s claims.

From there, he went on to build a successful trial practice, Penn & Pate, LLP, representing plaintiffs in a wide variety of personal injury and business tort trials. In 2000, Darren merged his highly successful practice with Scherffius, Ballard Still & Ayers, LLP.

In January 2006, Darren joined with his friends and current partners Jeff Harris and Steve Lowry to establish Harris Penn Lowry DelCampo. Since that time, HPLD has grown into one of the most well-known, respected trial firms in the southeast with a solid record of success.

Darren currently serves as Chair of the General Practice and Trial Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He is on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association serving as Parliamentarian and was the Chair and Co-Chair of the GTLA Legislative Committee from 2009-2011. Darren also served on the GTLA Amicus Committee for several years and in 2008-2009, he was the Chair of the Civil Justice Political Action Committee (PAC) of Georgia.

His memberships include: the State Bar of Georgia, the General Practice and Trial Section of the Georgia Bar, the Atlanta Bar Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, Lawyers Club of Atlanta, American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Southern Trial Lawyers Association, AIEG, and Gridiron.

Darren is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is a frequent speaker at CLE seminars all over the country. He has co-chaired the highly successful GTLA Auto Torts Seminar in Hilton Head, South Carolina; Amelia Island, Florida; Destin, Florida; and St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the last seven years.

Residing in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife and three children, Darren makes family time a priority. When he’s not working, he can most often be found enthusiastically cheering on his children at any number of sporting events or school activities.
